Design Space owner, Melissa Love, will be leading the workshop, alongside her team of Design Space ninjas.
She will be teaching you the right way to build a WordPress website, from planning to launch as well as ‘meeting’ you beforehand, via Skype, to help you with your pre-course planning.
She’ll be sitting right beside you and cheering you on right through to the launch of your sparkly new website.MELISSA LOVE
Topping ‘influential blogger’ lists throughout the UK and beyond, Rock n Roll Bride is the brainchild of writer Kat Williams. Launched in 2007 while Kat was planning her own wedding, it has quickly grown from ‘just another bride blog’ to one of the biggest in the world.
Kat also is one of the headmistresses at The Blogcademy, an awesome two-day blogging workshop. Kat will be sharing her secrets on planning engaging content and growing your profile through social media.KAT WILLIAMS
Kathryn is here to make your brand’s content all warm and sparkly. A writer with six years brand copywriting experience behind her, Kathryn has contributed to a range of brands including Ted Baker, Loaf and, somewhat incongruously, Waitrose.
A Herefordshire girl born and bred, she now lives in London and seemingly spends her weekends as a semi-professional bridesmaid (that’s your late twenties for you). Kathryn will be giving us her top tips on how to bring your brand alive on the page.KATHRYN BELLAMY
WHAT IF I DON'T FINISH BUILDING MY WEBSITE DURING THE WORKSHOP?
Although we think you will be completely confident about managing and improving your own site, sometimes people want to add more technical features, and the Design Space team will be happy to help you do that, after the course, for a small fee.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? DO I NEED A LAPTOP FOR EXAMPLE?
You will need to bring a laptop computer to work on during the workshop.
You will also need to organise the following:
- a website hosting account, ready for WordPress to be installed, or an existing installation of WordPress ready for you to work on. If you need help organising that, we will take care of it during your pre-course planning call.
- a license to use either ProPhoto for WordPress or Divi for WordPress. If you’re not sure what to go for, don’t worry, we’ll cover that during pre-planning
- a copy of Photoshop (Photoshop Elements is also fine)
- a Dropbox account so that we can share files with you
- your web copy (or rough content plan) and any images ready to go
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?
Before you arrive, we will be asking you to prepare a ‘brand kit’, consisting of your logo in various formats, your chosen colours, fonts and ideas for textures and design elements.
Whilst we can help you source or create some of those during the workshop, we would prefer you to be actually building your site, rather than creating brand elements.
Before the course, you will have a comprehensive set of brand exercises to complete, to help you bring your brand kit together.
I ALREADY HAVE A WEBSITE & I JUST WANT TO IMPROVE IT. IS THIS FOR ME?
We can’t guarantee that the results will be as dramatic as when working with our own designs, which we know very well, but we can certainly help you make decisions about updating page layouts and working with your existing content.
For anyone that needs to stay, we’ve negotiated a really great room room rate of £129 (Sunday £69) per room per night, including a light breakfast.
